If not, then this was a malfunction in a world filled with nerds itching to find sentience in their local coffee machine.. If this machine has a free will, perhaps it will be possible to test that as well, to talk to this robot. In the meantime, the owners should not feel any guilt for its malfunction and damage, but continue to treat it as the machine it was before this incident. We simply do not have enough information to believe that this or any orther machine possesses personhood.
