It is interesting how we westerners believe that Israel is filled with God's chosen people. When I worked for a Christian school several years ago, we had an Israelis speaker come. I spoke to him and he told me that Jews and Muslims worship the same God. My "Christian" principal/owner apparently did not interview this Muslim or if she did, she did not care that his views clashed with basic Jewish beliefs. Thus, Israel may prefer a false, temporary "peace" with Islam in exchange for giving up more territory. History is full of the stories of small naitons that have tried appeasement and were conquered thereby.
